UNEP DTU seeks short-term consultant to support Ecuador in implementing GACMO Model specifically in the industrial sector

Background for the assignment

UNDP DTU Partnership is supporting several regions by providing technical assistance to countries. The objective of the technical assistance is to help countries to conduct a training on the GACMO Model in Ecuador to use the existing data on mitigation in the industrial sector of the country and to improve its data regarding the GHG balance. The objective of the analysis is to prioritize the areas and specifically the sectors that are chosen by the Ecuadorian authorities. UNEP DTU will provide training to Ecuadorian national experts within the area of data collection, estimation of baseline scenarios and GHG estimation using GACMO model.

Qualifications for consultant and information about process

o Minimum of ten years of relevant work experience in climate change domain. Extensive experience with GHG inventories, mitigation and adaptation assessments and measures within the framework of national communications, biennial update reports and technology needs assessments is desirable.

o Candidates/Firms with prior experience in Ecuador in both climate change mitigation and adaptation projects will be given preference.

o The consultant team will inform the person designated in the document UNEP DTU Partnership on a regular basis through emails about the progress of the activities foreseen in the schedule for two weeks of work on the technical assistance based on a specialized consultancy, as well as a final report on the training process carried out and a draft of the training actions in response to the implementation of the GACMO model in the target sector of work in Ecuador.

o The consultants will provide technical support to local experts and the Ministry of the Environment will be informed about the entire training process.

Fluency in written and oral English and Spanish is required.

The technical assistance is scheduled to start on June 22 and culminate on July 03, 2018 with 12 working days.
