Vacancy Announcement - Climate Change Expert for the Low Carbon Development Programme

UNEP DTU Partnership (UDP) is seeking a Climate Change Expert for the Low Carbon Development Programme.

The Climate Change Expert will be engaged in a number of international projects and related analyses, concept development, capacity building and project management especially in the areas of:

- Transparency and Measuring, Reporting and Verification (MRV), including strategic guidance and technical backstopping support to country teams. While supporting country activities, the climate change expert is expected to support the country teams in coordinating activities with existing related projects and thereby explore synergies and gain more impact. Transparency and MRV are attracting more and more focus globally and the Climate Change Expert is also expected to provide support to other projects related this area.

- Climate Change Mitigation and the Paris Agreement are the focus areas that are guiding our projects and it is expected that the climate change expert provides technical expertise and backstopping to countries on NAMAs and other substantive issues related to INDCs including finance. This also includes coordination, organization and facilitation of technical workshops and webinars on NDC development and implementation and related issues.

Qualifications

Education
The successful candidate should have a degree in economics, engineering, planning, environmental sciences or other relevant discipline.

Work experience and competencies
The position is targeting candidates with more than 7 years of relevant work experience of which at least two needs to be in developing countries. The required competencies include in-depth knowledge and understanding of climate change, the UNFCCC process, especially the mitigation policies, technologies and climate finance as well as analytical skills and experience in preparing technical and/or policy-relevant reports and project management.

Languages
The working language at UDP is English. In addition proficiency in Spanish is a requirement.
