Call for Consultant - NDC preparation in Dominican Republic

UNEP DTU Partnership is seeking to hire a short term International Consultant to Support Dominican Republic for preparation of the (Intended) National Determined Contributions (I) NDC document.

Nature of assignment
The consultant will work in close cooperation with National Focal Point, UDP representative and national experts to deliver the following tasks:
A. Setting the scene (desktop study)
B. Propose the governance structure of the implementation of the NDC roadmap
C. Conduct a training workshop for national experts
D. Guide the national expert to elaborate the NDC roadmap

Duration of assignment
30 to 40 days starting 30 September 2017.

Budget available: 36,000 USD

Qualifications of consultant

Education
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Environmental Sciences, or related Climate Change field. Multi-disciplinary training preferable.

Work Experience
Minimum of ten years of relevant work experience in Climate change domain. Extensive experience with GHG inventories, mitigation and adaptation assessments and measures within the framework of national communications, biennial update reports and technology needs assessments is desirable.

Candidates/Firms with prior experience in Dominican Republic and Caribbean in both climate change mitigation and adaptation projects will be given preference.

Experience in project management and GEF climate change related issues is an asset.

Prior experience with detailing out NAMA financing options is desirable.

Languages
Fluency in written and oral English and Spanish is required.
